Petition Action

Seek to end taxation on transporting privately owned motorcycles to/from the EU

Petition Details

The Brexit Trade and Cooperation agreement between the EU & UK does not make any provision for motorcycle tourism, in that road going motorcycles can no longer be transported to the EU via a third party without being subject to tax.

Additional Information

Privately owned motorcycles that are being transported from the UK to the EU temporarily, for recreational/holiday use, should not fall into the same generic category of 'freight', and should not be subject to the same regulations as applies to commercial movements of exports and imports, requiring Customs Clearance, and attracting taxes and duties. The UK Government must make an agreement with the EU allowing third parties to transport motorcycles to and from the EU without any restrictions.
