Petition Action

Ben North. I would like you to review the 1880 ground game act for British Hares

Petition Details

To investigate this act as they are the only species not protected by law in the UK and as a result are in decline. Surely a few rabbits, pheasants, deer and what ever else they can find is enough???

Additional Information

Its disgusting to eliminate an entire species on the choice of the gentry residing within the British Isles.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can see that you'd like the Government to take action on people hunting hares, but it's not clear what outcome you'd like. You could start a petition asking for the Government to add brown hares as a protected species under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, or call on the Government to ban hare hunting altogether.

Hare coursing is already illegal under the Hunting Act 2004.
