Say no to retrospective freezing of student loan repayment threshold

Petition Details

The Government's preferred option for the £21,000 repayment threshold is to freeze it for five years rather than the promised uprating every year. If enacted, this would be a retrospective changing of conditions, on which students would have based a decision to go to university. Morally wrong.

Additional Information

Vince Cable, Secretary of State, in a written ministerial statement, dated 8 December, 2010, said : " In order to give protection for those on lower incomes, we now propose that the uprating should be every year."
