See more cameras in special needs schools

Petition Details

More and more cases are being reported of physical abuse in special needs schools. These are the most vulnerable children in our communities, many who cannot speak and are unable to tell anyone what is happening to them. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-39530915

Additional Information

Recently a teacher at my sons school admitted to tying a 6 year old girl described as "small for her age" to a chair. A child with autism who already finds the world a scary place, who cannot speak, then has her ability to move, taken away from her by the person who is supposed to care for her. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-39513142

This teacher has now been given the all clear to go back to teaching. Words cannot describe my dismay at this behavior being deemed exceptable.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

In the first instance responsibility for this issue would be for individual school Governors. If you want the UK Parliament to legislate for the provision of cameras in schools you could start a petition asking them to do that.
