Petition Action

A special offence created to protect emergency service staff when working.

Petition Details

Recent reports of verbal physical and written abuse of emergency service staff while working. These people have elected to protect society and should be protected by that society rather than be subject of abuse or assault for that decision.

Additional Information

News reports are showing more and more abuse of emergency service staff while working. Police are protected by legislation as seperate offence for other emergency staff would send a message. Offences such as aggravated burglary allow for mandated stricted penalties for existing offences in special situations. Society has an obligation to protect those that protect society
