Make high blood pressure tablets free on the NHS

Petition Details

Over 5 million people have high blood pressure and it affects more than 1 in 4 adults and is one of the biggest risk factors for premature death and disability in England.High blood pressure can lead to diseases including heart disease, stroke, vascular dementia and chronic kidney disease.

Additional Information

People who treat their diabetes with tablets, injection therapies or insulin are entitled to free prescriptions – but if you're in England you'll need to have a medical exemption certificate to claim your free prescription unless you're aged 60 or over. High blood pressure affects more people and have the same potential to kill a sufferer as someone with diabetes. High blood pressure sufferers right across the UK should be treated equally and fairly as diabetics and get free medication
