Petition Details

Revise the way the CMS works.

Both parents are required by law to contribute financially to the cost of bringing up their children yet the CMS are failing to calculate and process cases properly allowing the Non Resident Parent to not pay or pay significantly less than required.

Additional Information

Some cases are awarded a mere £1 or less per child. Loopholes allow Self Employed non resident parents to declare the bare minimum therefore decreasing the calcated amount.

The Child Maintenance Service had so many promises to deliver a great service.

"We keep the interests of your child at the heart of everything we do. We do this by working with you to provide a service that helps you to easily manage
your child maintenance payments"

We need them to be the service they promise to be!

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you're concerned about how child maintenance is calculated, but we're not sure exactly what changes you'd like to see.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
