Petition Action

Return the Indian Kohinoor (Koh-i-Nur) Diamond to India.

Petition Details

The Koh-i-Nur Diamond is an Indian-Mined Diamond that was found in India an stolen through British Raj and currently resides in the Crown Jewels.
Despite the fact that it is Indian Property, and British Administration is over in India, the British have not returned it to its home in India.

Additional Information

The British Empire is no longer alive and as a result, any Indian artefact that remains should be returned to India.
The Koh-i-Nur Diamond was mined and found in India and should be returned to its home in India, not in an alien land that mistreated millions of Indians.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because the Koh-I-Noor diamond is part of the Crown Jewels and the decision to return it would not be the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
