Fragmentation between mental health provision and the police needs addressing. A 24 hr Mental Health Service is vital to support police and individuals.

Police involvement with people without adequate mental health assessment or support can result in delayed diagnosis and dire consequences.

Additional Information

Rather than seeking to avoid blame and litigation for support failures police forces should be focussing on improving how to deal with people with mental health conditions’ to discriminate between criminality and mental health.
