Petition Action

Extend paternity leave for new fathers/partners during Covid-19 lockdown.

Petition Details

Allow new fathers/partners a further two weeks of paternity leave, following the birth or adoption of a child during lockdown and social distancing measures. Taking the total amount of time available as paternity leave to one month after the baby is born (or adopted).

Additional Information

In this time of lockdown and social distancing, new mothers will find themselves without the support network of family and friends. Regular home visits from professionals may not all be possible at this time. Therefore the support of a partner is more important than ever to help mother, baby and siblings through the early stages after the baby is born. Please consider the mental health impact and general wellbeing of new mothers, babies and fathers/partners during this difficult period.
