Petition Action

Increase the Duty-Free allowance for Spirits and other goods

Additional Information

If you are aged over 17, you are allowed to bring in

* 200 cigarettes or 100 cigarillos or 50 cigars or 250g of tobacco
* 4 litres of still table wine
* 2 litres of sparkling wine or 1 litre of spirits
* 16 litres of beer and
* £390 worth of other goods including perfume and souvenirs.

I think you should be allowed to bring in more than 1 litre of spirits, this should be increased to 2.5 litres which is the allowance you are allowed to bring into Australia. Sparkling wine should be separate and shouldn’t be a or to spirits.

The other goods should be increased to £1,000. If you have gone on a holiday outside the EU you have saved hard for that trip and would want to bring back a few gifts for friends and family along with something nice for yourself. £390 these days does not get you far especially as the exchange rate at the moment is so poor.

If you are travelling alone these limits can be very restricted.
