Criminalise Neglectful Parents re: The Internet, Digital Media

Additional Information

It should be a criminal offence to allow a child to use the internet and digital media without adequate supervision, in line with current legislation regarding neglect and child abuse.

Parents should have a duty to take reasonable and forseeable measures in order to monitor their child's internet and digital media usage.

Parents of children enganged in harmful behaviour, eg "sexting" or "cyber bullying" should be held accountable, akin to current legislation governing neglectful parental behaviour.

Parents should be required to proactively monitor their child, and it should be a criminal offence to allow an under-16 unrestricted access to the internet, through a personal computer, tablet, mobile phone or any other device capable of doing so.
