This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We understand that you are concerned about English literature GCSE courses. However, while English language is a requirement at GCSE, the Government does not require students to study English literature at GCSE. We're therefore not sure what it is you'd like the Government to do.

You could start a petition calling on the Government to remove all references to reading literature from the mandatory English Key Stage 4 curriculum, if that is something you'd like to see happen.
