Make it mandatory to offer a set number of leave days for mental health days.
The government should make it mandatory for employers, both of the public and private sectors, to offer 5 mental health days per annum. This would allow staff to take a day to refresh, recoup and get away from the stress without losing holiday or sick days.
Mental health is an increasing issue, especially with current climate. People who suffer from diagnosed mental illness and those who don’t. Everybody has fallen victim to being pushed to their limits both emotionally and physically during the pandemic and are now feeling the effects on their well-being. Teachers, nurses and key workers have worked themselves to the bone and are now being asked to increase workload more to catch up. They need the option to take a day without negative impacts.

We understand that you want people to be entitled to additional time off work for their mental health, but it's not clear what arrangements you want to apply to these days - for example whether they need to be agreed with the employer (like annual leave), and what if any pay employees should be entitled to on these days (as different arrangements apply to annual leave, sick leave and other types of leave).
You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
