Ban motorised scooters for under 16s and mandatory scooter registration/licences

Petition Details

I want the government to legislate for current times and stop use of this mode of transport by anyone under the age of 16 in whatever setting: private and public. In addition I want every scooter registered for a fee with DVLA to deter criminal use and anti-social behaviour.

Additional Information

Whilst there are a raft of laws enabling police to prevent poor behaviour on scooters there are not enough police or tech systems to enforce them. This leaves the blind, partially sighted and physically challenged vulnerable to high levels of anxiety and stress when using public spaces. As part of DVLA registration process there would be a requirement for a barcode/RFID chip to be fixed to the scooter, and law stipulating that anyone riding them has to have a licence so usage can be checked.
