Petition Action

Require businesses to grant free entry to accompanying carers

Petition Details

Require all events, leisure facilities and attractions to grant free entry to accompanying carers.

Additional Information

Require free entry for accompanying formal carers and support workers in all visitor attractions and leisure facilities. It is indirect discrimination that people with disabilities have to pay more because they require a carer to enable them to access an activity.

Some people with disabilities require support workers or carers to enable them to live their everyday lives. A carer/support worker can be a necessary tool to enable an individual to access hobbies and activities. It is unfair that the need for this support should occur any additional costs. Under the Equality Act, this unfairness classifies as indirect discrimination as accessing recreational activities can be more expensive for those who require support compared to those who do not.
