Petition Action

Give parents rights to 26-weeks paid leave to give children palliative care

Petition Details

Parents who have children with life limiting illness’ should be able to care for their child at the end of life without the worries of the financial impact of not working and potentially losing their job. Parents have similar rights at the start of life but not at the end.

Additional Information

We want to help parents of children with life limiting illness’ concentrate on the care of the child not the concerns of whether they can afford to live. Mothers are offered maternity pay of up to 26 weeks at the start of their child’s life. Why can parents not be offered the same when their child has been told an illness is incurable and terminal.
