Petition Action

We want private renting to be more reasonable & affordable

Petition Details

We want the government to work on private renting to make prices more reasonable for people on benefits or on minimum wage. As for a 2 bedroom flat/house cost around £900 to £1000 a month excluding council tax and bills how families with children are going to survive and afford it

Additional Information

It will make our lives easier and make us go live without worrying about the rent before the previous month has past by.The inflation has brought the private rented house prices up so families with children are suffering as most of the private landlord DO NOT ACCEPT HOUSING BENEFIT to help with the cost of private renting. It is such a depressing and stressful situation. When private landlords demands too much rent and some have many silly policies such as no children allowed or no pets etc.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you're concerned about the cost of private renting, but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do.

We have published the following petition, which you might like to sign:

'Rent freeze' in England for public and private rented properties: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/623326

If you want the Government to do something else, you could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
