MCA to Review Class V vessel requirements for Cat A & B canals boats
The current Regulations for Class V Canal boats are not fit for purpose on Cat A & B waters across the UK, these regulations where put in place due to the sinking of the Marchioness and Duck Marine Vessels sinking, but in both cases these vessels where based on a river not Cat A & B Canals
Between the MCA requirements for Training Boatmasters, Survey requirements and MCA lack of knowledge around canal boats the various canal organisations, charities using the canals for Tourism, Historical Heritage will soon be wiped out due to the high cost to the MCA and Survey requirements that are very extreme for canals on Cat A & B waters
