Mayors of Cities can be a form of elected chairperson of their City Council. Likewise for an elected Chief of Police elected to deliver certain policing policies in a region. These elected Mayors and Chiefs of Police are accountable to their community for the policies they implement and will be kept aware of the wishes residents in their region. Residents in a particular region can then direct their comments, suggestions and complains to their identified elected respective chairperson (i.e. Mayor or Chief of Police) about local of policing and council services, policies, their value for money and effectiveness in their area.
