Petition Action

Order the BBC to adjust its schedule of major series premieres to UK prime time.

Petition Details

Why is the BBC spending our TV license on programming for the American viewing audience? Why are they premiering Doctor Who at midnight UK time/7 p.m. Eastern Time? It’s our money. We want to see the results of it before the US!

Additional Information

Remind the BBC that they work for British taxpayers and not the Americans who rightly also enjoy the fruits of our taxation.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.

Decisions about the BBC's broadcast schedules are a matter for the BBC, not the UK Government or Parliament. The BBC is an independent body governed by a Royal Charter. Under the terms of that Charter, the BBC is operationally and editorially independent of government and there is no provision for the Government to intervene in the BBC’s day-to-day operations.
