Chris Patten to resign as Chairman of the BBC Trust

It has now come to light that Lord Patten was aware of the Newsnight story linking a senor Tory to a story on child abuse, before it was aired. We now know this story was utterly false. George Entwistle (who was appointed by Patten) resigned as a result, Chris Patten must do the same if confidence is to be restored in the BBC
