Petition Action

Hold a free vote of parliament on whether or not Britain should leave the EU

Petition Details

The referendum to leave the EU was carried by a small majority and was advisory rather than mandatory.
It has led to huge falls in financial markets and political consequences including the possible break up of the United Kingdom.
A responsible parliament must reconsider this matter in a free vote

Additional Information

Scotland is pushing for a second independence referendum.
Ireland may reunite.
The stability of the EU itself has been brought into question, affecting the existing world order and international relations.
The value of the pound fell dramatically, as did the stock market. Other currencies and markets around the world were also hit by falls, turbulence, and uncertainty.
Several promises made by the Leave campaign have been shown to be false.
Responsible MPs must overturn this non-binding result.
