Petition Action

Issue an immediate and unreseved public apologies to the partner of Glen Greenwald.

Additional Information

The UK government, in particular the Home Office and GCHQ should issue an immediate and unreserved public apology to the partner of Glen Greenwald (David Miranda) for his despicable treatment at the hands of UK Government Officials at Heathrow Airport on Sunday 18th August 2013 when he was detained for 9 hours under a terrorism law despite there being no possible suspicion of terrorism.

It is clear that Mr Miranda was detained to put pressure on his partner and on Laura Poitras in response to the Edward Snowden leaks. Use of terrorism statutes in this manner is irresponsible and reprehensible and the government owes all involved a sincere public apology without reservation.
