Petition Action

Lower the voting age from 18 to 16

Additional Information

The current minimum voting age in UK general elections is 18. We want to take action on this issue and want it to be lowered to 16 in order to give our youth a say in our apparently democratic society. Please show your support.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
