Petition Action

Non working individuals claiming benefits SHOULD NOT be better off financially than working individuals!

Additional Information

HB - Housing Benefit
WTC - Working Tax Credits
CTC - Child Tax Credits
JSA - Job Seekers Allowance

When claimed benefits are tallied up, those who work on a low income and claim benefits are financially WORSE OFF than those who claim the same benefits and do not work.

For example, A couple where 1 adult works, with 1 child and claim HB, CTC and JSA can receive (estimate) £1700pcm in benefits and wage. While a couple who both work 16hrs a week with 1 child, claiming HB, WTC and CTC earn LESS.

THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE.

Is there any wonder more and more people are turning to JSA and HB and as an alternative to working because it pays more than having a job?
This petition is aimed to guide the government into a policy change whereby benefits are greater for those who work on a low income, than those who do not work.

CHANGE THE POLICY, HELP THOUSANDS.
