Petition Action

Oppose proposal to increase school hours & term time

Additional Information

A former adviser to Mr Cameron, made a proposal for 8am-6pm school days & inc term time to 45 weeks, for children as young as 4 from 2016 & this is being considered for inclusion for the next election.

This move would see young children working more hours than many adults.

Childhood is an essential part of life, it would leave little or no time for extra curricular activities that enrich childrens lives. Its important that the government supports hardworking families, but it should also support the needs of the individual child & protect the right of child to be a child.& the right to families to have quality family time "Let them be little".

Other effects inc decreased concentration & performance of children due to tiredness, & increased time off due to illness; Inc. truancy; Inc. unauthorised absence for holidays; Inc. pressure on teachers; Lost rev. for afterschool care providers.

Please sign to show that the majority of parents do not want this for their family
