Petition Action

Penalise Newscorp and The Sun for printing Prince Harry photos

Additional Information

After the millions spent pursing the Newscorp group after the scandals of phone hacking. It is obvious that the Sun Newspaper is still totally disregarding privacy and decency in pursuit of sensationalist profit mongering. It is evident that despite the revulsion shown to newspaper antics that The Sun is determined to disregard public opinion and codes of practice, considering themselves above the law.

This company and its newspapers must be brought to account and thier licence to operate challenged.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

In the UK, the press is not subject to state regulation. The Government believes that this is fundamental to our democracy. That is why the government does not interfere in what a newspaper or magazine chooses to publish.
