Solar panels for Council housing tenants

Additional Information

Under the Renewables Directive, officially titled as 2009/28/EC, HM Government is required to put in place actions that guarantee that 20 percent of the energy consumed is renewable by 2020 as part of the drive to cut emissions of carbon dioxide.

As obligated by the EU Directive, HM Government is mandated to:-

‘encourage the exchange of best practices in production of energy from renewable sources between local and regional development initiatives and promote the use of structural funding in this area’.

We, therefore, call upon the Local Government Councils, as part of the Climate Change Package and the UN’s recent Inter-Governmental (IPCC) warning, to provide and install solar panels to council-owned homes which will also provide substantial savings, both financial and environmental, to those council house tenants themselves.
