To stay on British summer time.
Currently the clocks change at the end of October, 7 weeks before the shortest day. They revert back to summer time 14 weeks later. at the very least they should revert back at the end of January. Even the majority of Scottish people now favour a change, 53% in a poll done a few years ago.
The arguments for change are overwhelming with advantages on road safety, accidents are more frequent in the evening when people are tired and it is dark; tourism, an estimated benefit of £3.5 billion; sports and leisure, activity that is preferably done in daylight; health, particularly for those who suffer from SADS and other forms of depression; electricity consumption, an estimated 1.5% reduction in personal bills; carbon emissions, as a result of lower power use; security, muggings are more likely to happen in the evening; trade & industry, the benefit of harmonisation with Europe and being closer to the Far East time zones;
