Allow people to vote AGAINST an e-petition
E-Petitions are currently un-representative, as they only give an indication of the number of people in favour of a particular course of action, not of those who are strongly opposed to it.
While there may be enough strength of feeling on a particular subject to achieve a high number of signatures in favour of the petition, there may be an even greater strength of feeling against it which goes unseen.
By not allowing people to vote against an issue, we could easily be overlooking a majority view in favour of an active minority.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.
You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
