Arm police with SmartWater paintball guns
UK police forces to be armed with paintball guns for use during public order disturbances including riots. Paintballs to contain indelible fluorescent ink combined with “SmartWater” technology. Paintballs provide a deterrent from a distance as a non-lethal projectile (though bruising may occur). SmartWater allows identification of ink from individual balls or batches. Contaminated clothing, etc. can then be traced to date, time and place of deployment after the event and used as evidence in criminal proceedings.
