Petition Action

Reinstate National Service

Additional Information

I would like the Government to discuss and consider reinstating National Service in the UK for people between school leaving age and 25 years.

There would be many benefits including the following:

Unemployment figures would fall.
It would keep young people off the streets.
It would teach them respect.
It would help make them better members of society.
Increased personel available to armed forces but without hight cost of regular personel.

With the recent riots in London and other UK cities it can only be a good thing to give young people a chance to learn skills that would be useful for the rest of their lives rather than ending up joining a gang and ending up before the courts or in prision.
