Table a vote of no confidence in Stephen Hepburn MP and allow a by-election.
Stephen Hepburn is the Labour MP for Jarrow.
This petition is for a vote in no confidence in the ability of Stephen Hepburn to support & defend the poor, low income earners of his constituency.
His abstention in the Tories Welfare Bill vote has consigned his constituents to the trash can.
If Mr Hepburn had used his vote, the poor, low income earners in his constituency would have would have been championed by an MP with principles. Instead we have an MP who is standing idlely by while the Tory Party take a wrecking ball and use it to condemn the poor & those on low incomes to lives of sufferage.
I am calling on the electorate of Jarrow to sign this petition to trigger a vote of no confidence in Stephen Hepburn in order to trigger a by election so a new MP can be voted in.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can't accept this petition because it asks for something that neither the House of Commons nor the Government can do. The expression "vote of no confidence" is used when talking about a vote in the House of Commons which tests whether or not the Government of the day has the confidence of a majority of MPs in the House of Commons. That's why we allow petitions asking for a vote of no confidence in the Government or in individual Ministers. The concept of the House having “confidence” in someone does not apply to backbench or Opposition Members.
