Unemployed To Work For Benefits
The government will introduce a scheme whereby all benefits claimants will be made to perform suitable work in their local communities.
This would involve up to 5 hours of supervised work per day (Monday - Friday) and would be flexible enough to allow sufficient time for job hunting, interviews or other genuine commitments.
Benefits would be withheld on a pro-rata basis for claimants failing to meet their work obligations.
Work would be based around community projects and improving the environment, and should reflect a claimants age, experience and skills where possible. The work would be aimed at instilling an improved work ethic and sense of community belonging.
