Law for care / nursing homes to provide escorted care for patients as required.
There are situations where this has occurred involving elderly people with dementia / alzheimer's disease. CQC have informed me if escorted care is not in their policy the home have done nothing wrong. What about common duty of care, as these patients can't answer for themselves?
This has previously been raised by the Guardian newspaper in 2013 and I also have the details of my discussions with the Care Quality Commission if required.
At least two local GP'S thought escorts were provided as a matter of course / duty of care.
