Replace Tube Drivers with Automated Technology
We, the undersigned, believe that tube drivers should be replaced with
automated train-driving technology.
Each strike costs the economy 300 million pounds.
Starting salary of a tube driver is £49,673.
Implementing a glass wall or barrier for each platform would cost £10-15 million pounds. This would prevent drivers from needing to monitor doors and remove any chance of track related accidents.
Modern technology can implement signalling without affecting sub-surface lines which consist of complex arrangements.
The Victoria line currently has automated technology in place showing it can be done.
