Petition Action

Lodge a complaint with the International Court of Justice against Denmark

Petition Details

To the UK Government,
We request that the UK lodges a formal complaint with the International Court of Justice in The Hague against the Kingdom of Denmark for violating European community laws. Danish Naval vessels have assisted the hunting of small cetaceans around the Faroese coast.

Additional Information

Article 4 paragraph 3 of the Treaty of the European Union states that "The Member States have a duty of sincere cooperation and should refrain from any measure outside of EU legislation which could jeopardize the rules of the Union or its objectives".
Sea Shepherd can provide photographic and video evidence that Royal Danish Navy vessels have also assisted the Faroese police in intercepting and arresting Sea Shepherd volunteers (including from the UK) who were trying to uphold European law.
