Petition Action

Reverse Decision To Allow SKY Complete Coverage Of F1 Races And Restore Other Sporting Events With Special National Resonance To Free-to-air List

Additional Information

We the undersigned petition the government to reverse the recent decision to allow SKY to buy half of the BBC's coverage of Formula One beginning next season. This means that for the first time in UK broadcasting history all F1 races will not be shown on free-to-air television.

We also petition the government to restore summer Test Match Cricket to the free-to-air list and to guarantee that the following event are always shown live on terrestrial television - Winter Olympics, Commonwealth Games, US Masters Golf, The Derby and The Challenge Cup Final. Further to this, we also urge the government to add other sporting events that have special national resonance to the list, such as The Ryder Cup and Ashes Cricket in Australia.
