Inter-department working can save taxpayers money without cutting so many services

Rather than seeing all Government departments fighting over individual cost saving a new though a process of looking at ways to reduce costs to the taxpayer through inter-department working must be considered. The increasing of spending in one department can present a larger saving across other departments, likewise sometimes short term expense can produce longterm benefits of much greater value. These are simple measures but is a more appropriate use of taxpayers money.


Also all project teams working in all Government departments should also be required to consult with the frontline staff who work with the results of their projects to ensure that the final product is one that is going to work well, be reliable and useful. By failing to communicate there is a risk of public funds being wasted. Sometimes the spending more for a higher specification equipment / IT systems will present a long term cost saving and provide a more reliable resource.
