OFT Power to rule on airline charges

Additional Information

As per the OFT's advisory to the Government against unfair charges being added to flight fees by airline companies, the OFT the power to make rulings, or setup something to allow the Department for Transport to legislate against these unfair charges added to the booking of almost all airlines.
From "lovemoney.com"It is lobbying the Government to change an existing UK law, the Payment Services Regulations Act, to ban the charges.
until MPs take notice, the watchdog is powerless and hoping airlines will comply of their own accord.
When the ruling was announced a month ago, the OFT told the BBC - perhaps a little optimistically - that it expected travel companies to include their charges within their headline prices by the end of the year.
while clarity would make airline fares less misleading, it would not make them any fairer. The fact is, these charges are a rip-off - on average, it costs just 20p to process a debit card and no more than 2% to process a credit card .*"
