Petition Action

Make drivers aware of roundabouts in place & install traffic calming measures.

Petition Details

Due to the rising number of near fatal accidents occurring due to drivers ignoring or being unaware of the mini roundabouts in place we are seeking to have more signs and road calming measures installed for the safety of both road users and children who have to daily cross these roads unassisted.

Additional Information

There have been several accidents already, some more serious than others, as drivers claiming to not having been sufficiently made aware of the upcoming roundabouts, travelling excessively whilst children are walking to and from school and drivers, of cars and HGV lorries, regularly being diverted from the M8 motorway which runs parallel with the village.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We're not sure whether this petition is asking for action across the UK, or in a specific village.

The UK Government is responsible for motorways and major roads in England, through Highways England. If you would like this action to be taken on motorways and major roads across England, you could start a specific petition about this.

If you would like action to be taken in your village, this is likely to be an issue for your local council. You can find out how to contact local councillors here:

www.gov.uk/find-your-local-councillors

Responsibility for roads in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are devolved, and so the UK Government and Parliament can't take action.
