Prevent mobile providers taking money from customers accounts without consent
Mobile phone providers should be required by law to ask customers if they consent to charges from third-party services and apps. Leaving complaints to regulators is time consuming and slow with no guarantee of getting refunded.
I have been charged about £20 a month for extra charges on my account. As I have paperless billing I have not been checking as I should have. My provider refuses to refund and says it is the app provider’s responsibility. I have a contract with my mobile provider and they should have a duty of care and stop these scams operating on their network. Payphoneplus, the premium rate regulator say this particular transaction is outside their remit due to the contract between my provider and the app.
