Make exam boards nationalised
Every year thousands of mistakes are made by exam boards at student expense (both with lower grades via clerical errors, and monetary expense). They have admitted to "guessing" results and make private profits from students going for remarks and do this by claiming tax-free charitable status.
Figures show Edexcel had an annual turnover of £270m, while AQA had £159m and OCR, £115m.
Based on requests for re-marks and grade changes for summer 2011 exams, 19 per cent resulted in a change to subject grade. (This does not include the percentage who's UMS was increased but did not affect their grade).
