America's AMBER alert in the UK to STOP child kidnapping

Petition Details

On a recent trip to the USA, I received a push notification to my iPhone notifying me that the driver of a white Chevrolet 4 door sedan has just kidnapped a ten-year-old girl from school.
A mechanism to engage the public instantaneously within the immediate area to help to locate the child.

Additional Information

The AMBER alert system was founded in 1996 when Dallas Forth Worth broadcasters teamed up with local police to develop an early warning system to help find abducted children.

AMBER stands for ‘America’s Missing Broadcast Emergency Response’ and was created as a legacy to the abduction and subsequent murder of 9-year-old Amber Hagerman. Once created, other states followed, and the system has been rolled out nationally.

Why is this not available in the UK?
