Convicted rioters should be enrolled in a long-term community service program

Additional Information

People found to have participated in the looting and vandalism of the August 2011 riots should take part in compulsory community service. Specifically, this could involve maintenance of local areas (e.g. litter picking) or community-minded activities. Duties should fit the crime; the aim of this regulation would be to teach rioters to understand the consequences of their actions and to gain better social integration and responsibility.
