Petition Details

Example: Due to insufficient social housing stock, private tenancy agreements are entered into with support from Councils. When benefits are withdrawn, tenancies still are legally enforceable obligations, which are made worse by the council tax burden triggered by withdrawal of housing benefit.

Additional Information

This drives people to loan sharks, bankruptcy and destitution. Sufficient notice will allow affected families seek help, make alternative arrangements and/or reconfigure their finances.

Welfare cuts are necessary but must remain socially acceptable with impact mitigation warranty.
