Petition Details

Recently the government forced supermarkets to charge British shoppers 5p to use plastic bags. The shops brought in new stronger bags overnight when the charge became enforceable and I demand to know what happened to the weaker free bags.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Decisions about what to do with carrier bags would be a matter for the shops involved, not for the Government or Parliament.
