Petition Details

The People's Republic of China, in association with EDF of France, is seeking to reach an agreement with the UK government to proceed with the construction of a nuclear power station in the UK. Others may follow.

Additional Information

The ostensibly well-controlled civil utilisation of nuclear technology in Windscale, 3-Mile Island, Chernobyl and Fukushima have all posed problems of containment and contamination. Add to this the risk of politically adverse conditions in the future between the contracting parties, plus the general opaqueness and elusiveness of foreign owners and operators of UK businesses, (recall Delorean cars for e.g.) and the prospect of a perfect disaster looms on our horizon.
