Reimburse Annual NHS Contributions To Working Migrants Paying Health Surcharge
From April 2015 the UK Government announced an additional, mandatory fee for immigrants applying for a UK visa for longer than 6 months (excl. students/Aus/NZL), Immigration Health Surchage. The rationale, to help fund the NHS- which is currently paid for through workers taxes.
I believe the UK Government should review & amend their terms as outlined in the Immigration Health Surcharge, to reimburse annual NHS contributions to working migrants.
As an NHS employee, I endorse the IHS but deem it unfair & dishonest towards legally working migrants who consequently pay their NHS tax two-fold. Reimbursements can be calculated p/a through HMRC via an individuals' NI number.
This petition has been started to prevent hard working, tax-paying migrants from feeling undervalued.
